Nathaniel Voelker

Nathaniel Voelker currently serves as the Artistic and Executive Director of Soli Deo Gloria Choir, which has grown to include the 140 voice SDG Concert Choir, the 60 voice SDG Treble Choir, the 30 voice SDG Children’s choir, and the 30 voice SDG Chamber Choir. With over 27 years of professional experience in choral and orchestral conducting, applied and scholastic music instruction, and adjudication of ensembles and individuals, his tenure of leadership has significantly contributed to the SDG Choir’s growth in size and musicality.

Mr. Voelker’s previous experience includes serving as artistic director and conductor of adult and youth choral and instrumental ensembles across the United States, national touring youth choirs, artistic director of the Rochester Romantic Symphony, assistant director of Eastman Opera and the Oberlin in Italy Opera, co-conductor of the Roberts Wesleyan College Choir and RWC opera coach, conductor of the St. Louis Children’s Choirs High School Choir, adjunct applied music faculty at SUNY Genesee Community College, manager of the 250 voice Emory University Chorus, harpsichordist Emory Baroque Orchestra, Arts Director of numerous ministry programs domestic and abroad, and conductor of touring performances with Sandi Patty, Veritas, Keith and Kristyn Getty, John G. Elliot, Mwangaza Children’s Choir… His ensembles have sung live on NPR, recorded at Skaggs Entertainment, and performed with various symphony orchestras in choral orchestral and film score concerts, as well as at various sporting and community events.

Mr. Voelker began performing as a child stage actor while studying piano, trumpet and singing. Following his freshman year of high school, he moved away from home to attend the prestigious Interlochen Arts Academy (IAA) where he sang with the IAA Choir, Chamber Singers, Opera, and the University of Michigan Youth Chamber Singers, and continued vocal studies in the summers at Oberlin Conservatory. By his senior year at IAA, Mr. Voelker served as conductor of the IAA Men’s Choir and IAA Chamber Orchestra, Assistant Director of the IAA Choir and Chamber Singers, taught applied voice instruction to theater and instrumental music majors, and served as teaching assistant in music theory and music history. His singing earned him a lifetime membership in the Italian American Cultural Society at the age of 18.

Following graduation from the renowned Interlochen Arts Academy, Mr. Voelker received his B.S. in Music Performance from Roberts Wesleyan College/Eastman School of Music and his Master of Music in Choral Conducting from Emory University. If not in rehearsal with SDG Choir, Mr. Voelker can be found conducting masterclasses or adjudicating across the U.S. in vocal arts, conducting, and drama for high school, college, graduate and adult students. In his 9th season with Soli Deo Gloria Choir, Mr. Voelker still regularly reminds us, “A performance is simply an opportunity to invite the community into experiencing a glimpse of what we share together every week; with every voice, we are one song.”

Dr. Oleksii Hamov

Oleksii Hamov was born in Chernivtsi in western Ukraine. He started studying music at the age of 7. He received his primary education at Music School #2 in his hometown. After that, he continued his studies at the Music college named by Vorobkevich . Upon graduation, he went to Moscow, where he received a bachelor's degree. He became twice a laureate of international competitions.

In 2011, he moved to the United States where he received a master of music at Hammond University, LA. The next step in his career was the University of Tennessee, where he received an Artistic Diploma in the Miroslav Hristov’s class. While studying at the University of Tennessee, he was the winner of the concerto competition. His career as a violinist also includes orchestral playing . In 2020, he received the position of accompanist at the Kiev Symphony Orchestra. Dr. Hamov currently serves as the Concertmaster of the 福利小视频 Symphony Orchestra.

He earned the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas in 2022.
