Degrees in Music

The general Bachelor of Arts in Music provides a broad base for a number of careers in music such as private studio teaching, and is intended as preparation for advanced graduate study.

The Bachelor of Arts in Music: Music Performance Concentration is appropriate for those students who plan to perform, teach privately, or pursue further study at the graduate level.

The Bachelor of Arts in Music: Music Education Concentration is a professional degree and provides the essential training, knowledge and skills necessary for a teaching career in choral, instrumental, or general music. The degree leads to K-12 music teacher licensure in choral, instrumental, and general music.

The University also offers the traditional liberal arts Minor in Music suited for students in majors other than Music desiring a foundational curriculum in Music. The Minor in Audio Production is open to students in all majors (including Music) who have a strong background in music fundamentals (basic performance, musical notation and theory). The Minor in Composition/Music Theory, Minor in Jazz Studies, and the Minor in Piano Pedagogy, are primarily intended as concentration areas of study for students in BA-Music (General or Performance concentration) majors, but are open to students in any major satisfying course prerequisites.

Master of Education/Music Concentration

    Music, Sound, & Audio Production

    Music, Sounds, & Audio Production Minor

    The Music, Sounds, & Audio Production minor offers students a comprehensive education in the art and science of music production, sound design, and audio engineering, enabling them to pursue careers in various creative industries such as music production, film and television soundtracks, gaming audio, and live event production.

    Theory Composition

    The Minor in Composition/Theory provides a solid theoretical understanding of music as well as a broad foundation of compositional skills. The Minor culminates in a composition recital which ensures students graduate with recordings and scores appropriate for a graduate composition admissions portfolio

    Jazz Studies

    The Minor in Jazz Studies is designed to prepare the student for a wide range of opportunities to successfully work in the jazz idiom, including jazz theory, composition, and arranging, improvisation, and in-depth study of the historical aspects of both jazz and popular music. Jazz Studies students can participate in any of CSU-福利小视频's related ensembles, which include big band, choral, and guitar performance groups.
