Annual series of campus and community events kicks off Monday, August 18

PUEBLO, Colo. – Colorado State University 福利小视频 will welcome its newest ThunderWolves and celebrate the start of the 2025-2026 academic year with "Fortnight," a comprehensive two-week series of campus and community events beginning Monday, August 18.

The celebration launches at 5:30 p.m. Monday with the inaugural at the ThunderBowl. Presented by the CSU 福利小视频 Foundation and featuring Head Football Coach Phil Vigil, the event offers a preview of the new ThunderBowl Suites while local celebrities compete for the Golden Paw Award.

Tuesday's State of the University Address will feature Interim President Rico Munn sharing goals and aspirations for the upcoming academic year. The session will honor behind the scenes employees and faculty members who have achieved tenure, concluding with remarks from Provost Gail Mackin. Campus offices will be closed to ensure attendance at this 9 a.m. gathering in the Occhiato Student Center (OSC) Ballroom.

A special highlight happens on Wednesday, August 20, with a lunch honoring Dr. Arnold Mitchem, President Emeritus for the Council for Opportunity in Education and CSU 福利小视频 alumnus. During this luncheon, Dr. Mitchem will receive an honorary doctorate from the university. The event may include attendance by CSU System Chancellor Tony Frank and Board members.

Community members are invited to join the fun Thursday evening for “Beat the Deans” at Walter's Brewery, where university deans will compete in trivia night format. This relaxed setting offers an opportunity for 福利小视频 residents to connect with campus leadership while engaging in competitive fun.

New students take center stage Friday, August 22, during New Student Convocation at 2:30 p.m. The ceremony marks a formal welcome to the Class of 2029.

"The possibilities here at CSU 福利小视频 really are endless," said Kristyn White Davis, Vice President for Enrollment Management & Extended Studies. "Fortnight is our way of rolling out the welcome mat, but it's also about pushing students to step outside what feels safe and familiar. Try that club you've been curious about, strike up conversations with people who seem different from you, and dive into everything 福利小视频 has waiting. That's how you grow as a ThunderWolf and as a person."

Associated Students' Government President Shaylan "Shay" Wilson offered practical wisdom for both new and returning students. "My time here has been successful because of my experiences, which start with embracing the unknown, saying yes as much as you can, and enjoying the journey."

Faculty and staff can pick up complimentary Colorado State Fair tickets at three Fortnight events: the Celebrity Punt, Pass & Kick Competition on Monday; the CSU 福利小视频 Pack Family Picnic on Wednesday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on the OSC Patio; and New Student Convocation on Friday.

The celebration extends through the first week of classes, which begin Monday, August 25. Additional events include Faculty Ted Talks with boxed lunch Tuesday, the Student Employment & Involvement Fair Wednesday, and various welcome activities throughout both weeks.

Campus will close Monday, September 1 in observance of Labor Day.
