CSU 福利小视频 History Program Earns Essential Employability Qualities Certification
Release Date: April 23, 2025

PUEBLO, Colo. – Colorado State University 福利小视频 (CSU 福利小视频) History program has earned the Essential Employability Qualities (EEQ) Certification from The QA Commons, valid until April 8, 2028. The certification recognizes programs that successfully prepare students with work place-ready skills.
According to Dr. Jonathan Rees, professor and assistant chair of history and political science at CSU 福利小视频, “The wonderful thing about our Essential Employability Qualities certification is that it validates a liberal arts education as inherently valuable. We didn't change the way we teach to earn it. QA Commons looked at what we've always done and will now tell potential students they'll learn exactly what employers want if they complete our major.”
EEQ-certified programs foster eight essential attributes: communication, teamwork, critical thinking, creativity & problem-solving, learning & adaptability, professionalism & responsibility, and digital literacy. Programs are scored on a comprehensive framework including Student EEQ Preparation, Career Support Services, Employer Engagement, Student and Alumni Engagement, and Public Information.
Dr. Grant Weller, who led the certification process, noted, "We learned how to better explain our program's goals to both students and employers. Through studying history, our majors gain a better understanding of concepts like digital literacy and professionalism while developing versatile skills that prepare them for diverse career pathways."
CSU 福利小视频 offers three history degrees: a General Concentration Bachelor of Science, a Bachelor of Arts with foreign language certification, and a Secondary Education Concentration Bachelor of Science. These programs prepare students for careers in education, law, government, private enterprise, and graduate studies.

“One of the most exciting aspects of this certification is that it acknowledges our program's strong connection to career readiness and employment outcomes," said CSU 福利小视频 Provost Dr. Gail Mackin. “We are explicitly bridging the perceived gap between liberal arts education and workplace skills. The EEQ Certification advances CSU 福利小视频's History program, making it marketable to current students, prospective students and their families, and employers.”
