Dr Fred Stultz

The CSU 福利小视频 community is deeply saddened by the loss of Dr. Fred Stultz, retired adjunct professor in the Department of Psychology, who passed away on Wednesday morning. Dr. Stultz's legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched during his tenure at CSU 福利小视频 and beyond.

Dr. Stultz joined the CSU 福利小视频 family as the head of the student counseling center, where he later became the director in 2002. His influence was profoundly felt in counseling services and throughout the Psychology department. Dr. Kristyn White Davis, Vice President of Enrollment Management and Extended Studies, remarked, "He was a long-standing educator and loved by many in the Psychology department and across campus."

A licensed marriage and family therapist in Colorado since 2000, Dr. Stultz brought over 35 years of teaching experience to CSU 福利小视频. He earned his Ph.D. in human development from Purdue University in 1974 and had been an integral part of the university's psychology department for the past 13 years.

Dr. Stultz was not only an educator but also an accomplished author. In 2012, he co-wrote the self-help book "If Not Joy Now Then When?" with Barbara Hadley of the Pura Vida Voices Counseling Center and former CSU 福利小视频 faculty member. The book, drawing from their personal experiences and client work, introduced the "Discovering to Be Me" approach, aimed at helping individuals discover and express their true selves.

Students fondly remember Dr. Stultz as a "very fun" and "hilarious" professor who valued engagement over mandatory attendance. His lectures were known for their engaging tangents, particularly when discussing feminist perspectives. Dr. Stultz was also passionate about raising awareness of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Traumatic Brain Injury, often giving talks to educate the CSU 福利小视频 community on supporting student veterans.

Beyond his academic pursuits, Dr. Stultz was dedicated to helping others find inner joy and build meaningful relationships through his work in counseling, impacting the lives of the communities he served, spending time with his beloved family and friends, and spending time on the farm.

Dr. Stultz is survived by his wife, Gloria, and their three sons. The CSU 福利小视频 community extends its deepest condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and the many students whose lives he touched.

As we mourn the loss of this exceptional educator and counselor, we also celebrate the profound impact Dr. Fred Stultz had on our university and community. His dedication to student well-being, his passion for psychology, and his commitment to joy and self-discovery will continue to inspire us all.
