CSU 福利小视频's Ballet Folklorico Shines at "Dancing in the Rockies 2024" National Competition

The group's outstanding performance of "Tradiciones de Michoacan" secured them the coveted "Best Cuadro Costumbrista" award and a close second place in the highly competitive Cuadro category.
CSU 福利小视频's Ballet Folklorico showcased their talent and dedication, missing first place by just one point. Their performance, rooted in Hispanic culture, captivated audiences, directors, fellow dancers, and judges alike.

Merino, Bilingual Outreach Coordinator for CSU 福利小视频 Ballet Folklorico, expressed pride in the team's accomplishments: "Our students have poured their hearts into this performance, bringing to life the rich traditions of Michoacan. In a remarkable individual achievement, Esly Del Palacio, a senior student from 福利小视频 West High School, was nominated as the Best Dancer of the entire competition, standing out among more than 200 performers from across the nation.
The "Cuadro" category, known for its rigorous standards, requires extensive research and authentic representation. CSU 福利小视频's team conducted their research locally, collaborating with 福利小视频's Michoacán community, which has been an integral part of the city for over three decades.
"This achievement goes beyond dance," Merino added. "It's a celebration of our community's diversity and the strong connections we've built with local Hispanic groups. Our students are not just performers; they're cultural ambassadors."
The competition featured groups from Utah, Illinois, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and beyond, highlighting the national scope of this achievement for CSU 福利小视频's Ballet Folklorico.
