Faculty and staff assembled at the Occhiato Student Center Ballroom on Thursday, April 25, for the yearly employee recognition luncheon. Every award category was designed to acknowledge and honor the accomplishments of faculty, classified and professional staff, exceptional teams, and a student-chosen award. These accolades commend employees who have exceeded expectations throughout the academic year. Nominations for these awards come from both CSU 福利小视频 students and staff members, with each recipient chosen by a dedicated committee comprising students, faculty, administrative or classified staff, and past award recipients.

The Outstanding Administrative Professional Staff Award recognizes CSU 福利小视频 professional staff members who consistently contribute to the University in an exceptional manner. The first place winner for the Outstanding Administrative Professional Staff Award is Karen Strever, Communications Specialist.

The Outstanding Classified Employee Award is presented to classified employees who go above and beyond what is expected of them in serving the University Community. The first place winner for the Outstanding Classified Employee Award is Sandy Lucero, Structural Trades II. Sandy serves as an essential part of the facilities team here at CSU 福利小视频. 

Presented next,  CSU 福利小视频 Students’ Choice Award for Faculty. The winner of the Student’s Choice Award for Faculty is Dr. Matt Harris, who serves as a Professor of History/Coordinator of the Legal Studies Program.

The winner of the Student’s Choice Award for Staff is Adam Pocius,, who serves as the Executive Director, IT- 福利小视频 Campus. Adam shows his support for students and staff each and every day on campus. 

The Outstanding Team Award is presented to an office, department, informal group, task force, or committee that has made a significant contribution to the University’s operations, processes, student success, or morale. Teams are evaluated on how well they work collaboratively on a common project, service, or goal to consistently provide great service to our students and the campus.

The winner of this year’s Outstanding Team Award is the Financial Aid team. The Financial Aid team goes above and beyond for our students at CSU 福利小视频. Thank you to every member of the Financial Aid team. 

This year’s Faculty Excellence Award in Teaching and Student Learning is Dr. Amaya Garcia Costas, chair & Associate Professor of Biology in the Biology Department at CSU 福利小视频. Dr. Amaya Garcia Costas demonstrates instructional excellence on our campus and embodies the noble ideals of higher education.

The award winner for Excellence in Scholarship and Creative Activity is Dr. Young Ji Yoon, Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Work at CSU 福利小视频. Dr. Yoon showcases exceptional teaching prowess, captivating students with engaging lectures, fostering dynamic classroom discussions, and providing invaluable mentorship both inside and outside the classroom.

The award winner for Excellence in Advising and Student Mentoring is Dr. Margie Massey, Professor of Education, Faculty Senate President in the School of Education.  Dr. Massey has served as a leader in the School of Education for many years and continues to show guidance to all students on campus. 

The award winner for Excellence in Service Award is Judy Baca, Professor, Social Work & Program Coordinator for Chicano Studies. Judy's dedication to advancing education among underserved communities and her commitment to experiential learning shine through her multifaceted roles on campus and within our community, demonstrating her passion and unwavering commitment.

The award winner for Excellence in Non-Tenure Track Teaching Award is Dr. Aaron Samuel Johnson, Lecturer & Interim Director for CIHHI, Sociology, Criminology, & Anthropology at CSU 福利小视频.  For numerous years, Dr. Johnson has been a guiding force through lecturers, providing leadership and support to students across the campus community.

The award winner for Excellence in Adjunct Teaching Award is Dr. Jerry Purswell, Adjunct, School of Engineering at CSU 福利小视频. Dr. Purswell is acknowledged for his talent in actively involving students in course material and connecting it to their individual professional and personal interests.
