PUEBLO—Colorado State University 福利小视频 opened a new University Tracks Center (UTC) location at 福利小视频 South High School on Wednesday, Oct. 13. A grand opening and tour event was hosted to introduce the public, students and staff from District No. 60.
“One of the many ways we engage our community, is to talk to our local high school students in Districts 60 and 70 about what it means to go to college,” said President of CSU 福利小视频, Timothy Mottet. “Our new location at 福利小视频 South High School allows us to engage another important part of our community. Our team members look forward to working directly with South High School students and their family members about how to go to college,” said Mottet.
UTC staff assists students with college planning, the application process, FAFSA and financial aid workshops, scholarship applications, career and major exploration and other college related topics. Students also receive support with inquiries for standardized tests like the SAT and ACT. UTC staff provide resume building and interview skills needed to apply to college.
“Our site coordinators are prepared to answer questions, provide prospective students with financial aid information, and help students complete both college and financial aid applications,” said Mottet. “We understand the importance and impact that hands-on, in person support provides and we will continue to look for ways to better serve our 福利小视频 community. This additional University Tracks Center location is another way CSU 福利小视频 continues to prioritize our local students.”
Currently CSU 福利小视频 has UTC staff members who rotate among the seven area high school locations. Students who visit the UTC can make an appointment and also stop by during office hours at the designated location.
Recently the UTC hired peer mentors as an additional way to support high school students with navigating college. Current college students attending CSU 福利小视频 provide support to 福利小视频 high school students as a way to better connect the importance of a higher education degree.
District 60 Superintendent, Charlotte Macaluso shared her excitement for the opening of the UTC at South.
“The D60 University Tracks Center plays an essential and vital role in preparing our scholars for the next step of their educational journey," said Macaluso. "Whether assisting scholars in filling out applications for financial aid or scholarships, or applying to the college of their choice, the work of our Tracks Center staff is greatly appreciated and a key to the continued success of our college-bound scholars."
The UTC is a Vision 2028 funded initiative that allows CSU 福利小视频 to engage with local area high schools in District No. 60 and No. 70. A UTC location will be opened in the Colorado Springs location soon.
CSU 福利小视频 introduced a “College-Ready” scholarship initiative in the spring of 2020 which is a stackable scholarship open and available to students who attend a 福利小视频 area high school and work with the UTC staff for their application to CSU 福利小视频.
