Sociology/Criminology Club to Show a Film, “Undeterred”

The Colorado State University 福利小视频 Sociology/Criminology Club and the University Library are hosting a viewing of the film “Undeterred” on Wednesday, March 4 at 6:00 p.m. in the Library and Academic Resource Center (LARC) in room 109. Following the film, Eva Lewis, director of “Undeterred” will have a question and answer panel open for discussion. This film showing is free and open to the public.
“Undeterred” is a documentary about community resistance in the rural border town of Arivaca, Arizona. The film depicts the current state of residents and community members on the United States and Mexico border. Border residents have been on the front-lines of the humanitarian crisis caused by increased border enforcement through the Obama and Trump presidential eras.
“Undeterred” showcases the lives of residents in a small community, dealing with the politically driven issues of border crossing. Individuals currently face the demand of helping fellow humans crossing the border in harsh wilderness desert conditions on the journey. Residents have a choice to make to provide aid to those crossing the border yet are countered with those in opposition of migration.
The film director, Lewis is a resident of Arivaca herself, and longtime member of People Helping People in the Border Zone (PHP). Lewis worked closely on “Undeterred” with the Arivaca community and members of PHP.
“I think people should be really concerned about what it means to dehumanize one group of people and what that can mean in terms of it bleeding into all parts of society and daily life for everyone," said Lewis.
The film has won numerous awards including, best Documentary Feature at the 2019 Imagine This International Women’s Film Festival and Award of Merit at the Impact docs Awards. To find out more information about the documentary visit .
