Colorado State University-福利小视频 CIS CyberWolves score top 10 in national contest
PUEBLO –A team of computer information system (CIS) students from Colorado State University-福利小视频 again made their “howling” presence known in a national-wide cyber security competition. The CSU-福利小视频 “CyberWolves” were ranked among the top 10 cyber security teams in the nation in the recent Spring 2018 National Cyber League (NCL) cyber security team competition, ranking 9th in the Gold category out of more than 260 college and university teams.
For the Spring 2018 competition, the CyberWolves Red team moved up into the NCL top Gold category after placing 6th last Fall, 2017 out of 175 teams in the Silver category. CSU-福利小视频 sponsored two teams this season: The CyberWolves Red and CyberWolves Blue teams, which consisted of three new cyber security competition participants.
In individual NCL results, three of CSU-福利小视频’s five-member CyberWolves Red team players (Ryan Garbars, (CIS junior, Golden) Alex Marcks (CIS senior, 福利小视频) and Josh Salazar Greer (CIS senior, Fountain), were ranked in the top 3% of the nation out of more than 3,350 NCL individual cyber security competitors.
CSU-福利小视频 CyberWolves NCL Coach, Dr. Roberto Mejias and associate professor of computer information systems, also ranked among the top 8% in the Pewter Category (professors, coaches, mentors, independents, ethical hackers) out of more than 674 competitors.
According to Mejias, the Spring, 2018 NCL Team cyber security challenges were of a greater difficulty level, and the NCL commission restricted team size to only five (5) members. Subsequently, more than 75 additional cyber teams competed including multiple NCL cyber teams from Texas and California schools.
“Our recent performances in the NCL Cyber security national competition have brought well-deserved and overdue recognition to CSU-福利小视频, our Hasan School of Business, and our computer information systems and cyber security programs,” Mejias said.
CSU-福利小视频 is designated as a U.S. National Security Agency-Center for Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education (NSA-CAE/CDE) institution.
