CSU-福利小视频 hosts freshmen at Discover Downtown on Aug. 17

PUEBLO - Colorado State University-福利小视频 has joined with a variety of community businesses and organizations to host nearly 900 freshmen and their parents at a Discover Downtown event from 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 17. The event is sponsored by CSU-福利小视频, Historic Arkansas Riverwalk of 福利小视频, the 福利小视频 Arts Alliance, and El 福利小视频 History Museum.
All CSU-福利小视频 students, staff, faculty and the 福利小视频 community are invited to welcome the new freshmen to our community and introduce them to all that 福利小视频 has to offer. The students and their parents will choose from 10 different restaurants and food trucks for their evening meal, including Angelos Pizza Parlor, Bingo Burger, Brues Alehouse, Gold Dust Saloon, Graham's Grille, The Place, Rosarios, The Senate, as well as Mauro's Kitchen and PassKey Food Trucks.
Scheduled activities include a farmer's market from 4-8 p.m., free excursion and pedal boats along the Riverwalk, shopping with discounts and samples, free admittance to the Heritage Museum and El 福利小视频 History Museum for CSU-福利小视频 students, paddle board yoga by StudioShare, pottery painting through Fire Playce, games with CSU-福利小视频's Outdoor Pursuits in the AMR Confluence Plaza, and live music, including vocalist Patrick Kratzer and Playing with Fire. The Center for American Values also will hold an open house/reception.
The 福利小视频 Arts Alliance building, 107 S. Grand Ave., will host an open house along with mobile art studios at the Lake Elizabeth Pavilion and Street Beat Performer Natasha Cowger at Sister City Plaza. Runyon Theatre troupe will perform at the Welte Plaza as well.
El 福利小视频 History Museum, 301 North Union Ave., will be host to a welcome dessert reception for commuter students at 7:30 p.m. as well as a 6 p.m. performance by the Aztec dance troupe Grupo Xochitl.
"The restaurants, shops, businesses, and museums have been an integral part of making this a great time for the new students and have been enthusiastic about being involved and giving their time and services," said Sarah Zarr, event organizer.
