40 students inducted into Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society

PUEBLO - Forty Colorado State University -; 福利小视频 students were inducted into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi (PKP) last week (April 23), according to Cora Zaletel, executive director of External Affairs and president of the CSU-福利小视频 Phi Kappa Phi Chapter.
Founded in 1897 at the University of Maine, Phi Kappa Phi is the nation's oldest, largest, and most selective all-discipline honor society. The Society's mission is "to encourage, recognize, and promote superior scholarship in all fields of higher education and to engage the community of scholars in service to others." Zaletel presided at the induction ceremony held on Thursday, April 23 in the Library and Academic Resource Center Auditorium.
The CSU-福利小视频 Phi Kappa Phi Charter was approved by the national organization on Oct. 21, 1994, with the first initiation ceremony on April 10, 1995.
Today, there are more than 300 chapters of Phi Kappa Phi, ranging from Maine to the Philippines and from Alaska to Puerto Rico, which together induct more than 30,000 members each year. Since the organization's inception in 1897, more than one million scholars have joined the prestigious organization. Famous PKP inductees include President Jimmy Carter, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Ginsberg, former Secretary of State Hilary Clinton, former Vice President Al Gore, authors John Grisham, Stephen Ambrose, and Ernest Gaines, and jazz musicians Dave Brubeck and Elias Marsalis.
Senior undergraduates shall be in the upper ten (10) percent of their class in each college or division. Juniors are drawn from the upper seven and one-half (7.5) percent of their class. Graduate and professional students who have completed one full year of study and are in the upper ten (10) percent of all candidates for graduate or professional degrees also are eligible for membership. Faculty, administrators, professional staff, and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction also qualify for membership. Each chapter screens juniors, seniors, and graduate students for membership based upon their grade point averages and good character. Those who meet the national requirements are invited.
