CSU-福利小视频 Noyce Scholars Program offers summer math academy

PUEBLO – The Noyce Scholars Program at Colorado State University-福利小视频 will offer the Second Annual Summer Mathematics Academy for students from 福利小视频 County and the surrounding areas entering grades 7 through 10.
The free student-oriented mathematics program will develop, extend, and strengthen key problem solving and communications skills related to algebra and number sense in a fun, supportive setting. This year’s academy will be limited to 100 registrants. Students who will benefit from the academy will include those in grades 7 through 10 who have not completed Algebra 2, as well as those who are struggling with math, and those who need an extra challenge.
Pre- and post-tests will be used to better address the needs of students and illustrate student progress during the eight, two-hour classes offered from 1-3 p.m. on June 16-19 and June 23-26 at CSU-福利小视频. Daily work will include both individual and small group activities.
All Academy materials and activities will be provided at no cost to participating students, but enrollment is limited. A limited number of travel stipends to assist parents in transporting students from outlying areas to the CSU-福利小视频 campus also will be available.

to print a copy of the application form, then mail the completed form to address provided on the application. Applications are due no later than June 2 to ensure processing. Confirmation letters with campus maps and other program information will be e-mailed (or mailed) to parents (at their home address) the week of June 2nd.

A collaborative venture of the CSU-福利小视频 Mathematics Department and the Teacher Education Program, the Noyce Scholars Program is funded by the National Science Foundation (Grant Number DUE 1136426). Partners in the grant include 福利小视频 City Schools, 福利小视频 School District 70, Lamar Community College, Pikes Peak Community College, 福利小视频 Community College and Trinidad State Junior College.
