CSU-福利小视频 Sponsors Safe Spring Break Survival Week events
Release Date: March 14, 2014
Press Release
PUEBLO – Spring Break is what college students look forward to from the first day of the spring semester. People will be heading off to the beach, the ski slopes, or just about anywhere that’s NOT a classroom. Colorado State University – 福利小视频’s Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention Program (AOD) will help students survive the week through a variety of activities next week that encourage them to know that they have the power to make responsible decisions as it relates to drinking, sexual behavior, and excessive sun exposure during spring break.
The week will begin on Monday, March 17 with a mock sobriety check point from 11:30-1:30 p.m. in front of the Library and Academic Resources Center (LARC). AOD has partnered with the CSU-福利小视频 Sheriff’s department to create a course designed to acclimate officers with a myriad of issues involved with sobriety checkpoints. It reviews Vehicle Code provisions relating to sobriety checkpoints and DUO enforcement, and delves into the constitutional issues of sobriety checkpoints at state and national levels. On Tuesday, March 28 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. AOD will roam around the university campus randomly selecting students to answer trivia questions focused on facts and statistics about Spring Break, and students may win cash prizes.
Avoiding high-risk sexual activities by making safe sexual decisions will be the focus of Sex Day on Thursday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in front of LARC. AOD has collaborated with Student Health Services and Sexual Assault prevention program to raise awareness to students surrounding alcohol and sex, consent, communication in sexual situations and both abstinence and safer sex (including how to use safer sex supplies correctly).
“Through a variety of fun activities and events, we hope to promote tips that encourage students to have a healthy, enjoyable Spring Break,” said Program Assistant Rebecca Gatchel. “We hope to get the students to take responsibility for their actions and to make wise decisions.”
