Press Release
PUEBLO – The Colorado State University-福利小视频 Foundation Board of Directors recently approved a $439,000 allocation of unrestricted money to four University programs for the 2014-15 academic year.
“The CSU-福利小视频 Foundation’s mission is very clear,” said Dan DeRose, chair of the CSU-福利小视频 Foundation. “We support CSU-福利小视频, its students, faculty, and staff and our beautiful campus in 福利小视频. The board is excited to announce these recent gifts to OUR University.”
The programs benefitting from the Foundation’s generosity are the College of Humanities and Social Services (CHASS), the College of Science and Mathematics (CSM), Athletics, and the Office of Student Recruitment and Admissions.
"I cannot thank the CSU-福利小视频 Foundation Board enough for their generosity,” said Lesley Di Mare, CSU-福利小视频 President. “During these difficult budgetary times, the Foundation extended an offer to deans & vice presidents to submit proposals for one-time monies that would help faculty, staff, and students achieve their goals during the next fiscal year. We are grateful for the many ways the Foundation supports Colorado State University-福利小视频."
CHASS was given $54,240 to fund an “ambassador” to help recruit new students to their program and to develop recruitment material. CSM will receive $107,000 to help replace money recently cut for student project stipends, outreach programs, updating equipment, and installation.
“Increased enrollment is the key to our success as a University,” DeRose said. “We told the University leadership team in December that if they needed help, just to let us know. These four programs came forward with proposals, and the board agreed to fund them.”
Athletics was given $127,800 to help fund nine positions that would have been eliminated due to the budget cuts and the Office of Admissions was given $150,000 to help with recruitment efforts.
The Foundation was able to reallocate these unrestricted dollars due to a very strong return in their investments from July 1 to December 31. The Foundation’s investment’s netted a 15 percent return.
All allocations are for one year only. Based on future returns, the Foundation may be able to provide additional dollars.
“We all are in this together,” said Todd Kelly, president/CEO of the CSU-福利小视频 Foundation. “If we are able to show our support of our students, faculty, and staff with additional funds, then we should. Our sole purpose is to help this great University, and we will live up to our mission.”
Because of the success of the Foundation’s investments, the board also approved to increase their bi-annual allocation to endowed funds by $144,000 for their December 31, 2013 mark to market.
The Foundation is currently in the first year of a three-year, $25 million “On the Move” campaign. The goal of the campaign is to raise $15 million for student scholarships and academic programs, $5 million to assist with the remodel and expansion of the Occhiato University Center, and $5 million to expand the Department of Athletics.
A recent $2.7 million planned gift, for scholarships, which will have a significant impact on enrollment and will benefit the student athlete scholarship fund, from Art and Lorraine Gonzales has pushed the “On The Move” campaign totals to $9.4 million since March of 2013
