Program Admission

Part 1 - University Application

All students interested in the Master of Social Work program must apply to CSU 福利小视频.  Beginning with the Fall 2022 applications, student do not have to submit a separate application to the Department.  The application to CSU 福利小视频 as a graduate student also serves as the application to the Department.  Applications are due February 1 of the year in which the student wishes to attend the program.

Applications are due February 1 of the year you wish to attend. We only accept students in our face-to-face weekend program in the Fall semester each year.

Part 2 - (Advanced Standing Students Only) Submit Practicum Application - To Be Completed After Admission

Practicum allows students to observe real-life situations handled by professionals in the field. Social work students are required to also apply for admission into the practicum. 

Advanced Standing students are required to submit the practicum application once they have been admitted to the program.

Generalist students do not have to apply until the end of their first semester.

Students will be notified by April 1st of each year, and the application for the practicum is due by April 30th. 

No student can apply to the practicum without first being admitted into the program.

Students must register at Tevera and pay $225 for lifetime access. 

 

Your application will not be considered until all required materials are completed. 

Admission Requirements

Advanced Standing (Students with an accredited Bachelor of Social Work degree)

  • A Bachelor of Social Work degree from a CSWE accredited program or recognized through its International Social Work Degree Recognition and Evaluation Services
  • A course in statistics
  • A research course
  • A GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale in the last 60 credit hours of academic work (please note, if you attended multiple institutions in your last 60 credit hours, your cumulative GPA will be calculated based on the last 60 credit hours of all courses attempted at every institution attended)
  • 150 hours of volunteer or paid work experience in human services field (above and beyond field hours) in a 6-month period during the last 5 calendar years
  • Most recent placement evaluation
  • 3 Letters of recommendation, one from a professor, one from academic advisor, one from employer or placement supervisor (BSW students from CSU 福利小视频 please see the note on references below)
  • A 3-page summary outlined in Step 4 or pg. 2 of the MSW Student Handbook

Generalist (students with a bachelor's degree other than Social Work)

  • A Bachelor’s Degree from a university accredited by a nationally recognized accrediting agency by the Department of Education, with at least 18 credits of liberal arts studies
  • A course in statistics
  • A research course
  • A GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale in the last 60 credit hours attempted. A 2.5-2.99 GPA on a 4.0 scale in the last 60 credit hours attempted may qualify a student for conditional acceptance (please note,  if you attended multiple institutions in your last 60 credit hours, your cumulative GPA will be calculated based on the last 60 credit hours of all courses attempted at every institution attended)
  • 3 Letters of recommendation, one from a professor, one from academic advisor, one from employer or placement supervisor
  • A 3-page summary outlined in Step 4 or pg. 2 of the MSW Student Handbook

*A Note on References

Current or former BSW students from CSU 福利小视频 may not use current full-time Social Work Department faculty as references. Therefore, you may substitute an additional professional reference in place of the academic advisor reference. Full-time faculty may not write a reference as a professor, so applicants should request a letter from a professor outside of the social work program or from part-time faculty.

Important Information Regarding Licensure

A CSWE-Accredited MSW degree may lead to licensure as an LSW or LCSW in the State of Colorado.  Students are strongly encouraged to work with the academic department and the applicable professional licensure board in the state in which they intend to pursue licensing to ensure all licensure requirements will be satisfactorily met (e.g. Division of Regulatory Agencies in Colorado).  For more information on specific state licensing requirements, please visit the Association of Social Work Boards website and the link below.
