Staying On Campus During Breaks: What You Need to Know
Your standard academic year housing agreement covers August through May, which includes three scheduled breaks. However, policies and costs vary depending on the break. All residents must complete a Break Stay form for each break they remain on campus, regardless of cost. This is critical for building access and emergency preparedness.
Break Stay Policies
-
Fall & Spring Break
- Cost: No additional charge. The cost is included in your academic year rates.
- Action Required: You must still complete the Break Stay form in the Housing Portal to notify our team. Late sign-ups will incur a fee.
-
Winter Break
- Cost: $157.50 per week (prorated based on your stay dates).
- Action Required: Complete the Winter Break Stay form by the advertised deadline. Late sign-ups will incur a fee.
Important for All Break Periods
- Health & Safety Checks: Staff will enter every room and apartment during breaks for mandatory health, safety, and maintenance inspections.
- Preparing Your Space: If you are leaving, a checklist will be posted on your door with instructions to "close up" your room (e.g., reducing utilities, preventing pests, taking valuables).
Transitioning to Summer Housing
-
Summer Information
Summer housing is a separate agreement and is exclusively in the Walking Stick Apartments.
- The Gap Week After Spring Finals: Students with a summer housing contract can request to stay for the week between spring finals and the start of summer sessions.
- All Students must complete the Late Stay Form in the Housing Portal.
- Summer Housing Application: All students wanting summer housing must complete a Summer Housing Application in the Housing Portal.
- Storage Options:
- Belongings cannot be left in your academic year assignment over the summer.
- Limited summer storage may be available for a competitive rate. Email csup_housing@csupueblo.edu for information.
- Important Note for Current Walking Stick Residents:
- If you are living in Walking Stick in the spring and have a summer contract, you will be required to relocate to a temporary dorm accommodation during the transition period. This is mandatory to allow for deep cleaning and renovations. You may be assigned to different apartment over the summer. No exceptions can be granted.
- Academic Year vs. Summer Placement:
- A summer assignment in Walking Stick does not guarantee an apartment there for the following academic year. You can always add your name to the Walking Stick Waitlist for any term.
- The Gap Week After Spring Finals: Students with a summer housing contract can request to stay for the week between spring finals and the start of summer sessions.
