Dora Luz Cobián, tijuanense, grew up in San Diego during the heart of the Chicano movement, and throughout her life has championed both Mexican and Chicano/Latino issues. Dr. Cobián obtained her education in the University of California system: her bachelor of arts and master's degrees at UC San Diego, and her Ph.D. at UC Riverside. She has been teaching at CSU-福利小视频 since Fall 1995, where she is professor and teaches for the Spanish, Chicano Studies, and Women's Studies programs. She has written a book on the  PopolVuh, the book of council of the Maya Quiché people of Guatemala, titled,  Génesis y evolución de la figurafemenina en el  Popol Vul. She recently published a book titled  Border People: T. J. Living, a novel based on her and her family’s experiences living on the Mexican side of the U. S. Mexican border. She has also written several articles on Latin American and Chicano writers and their work, e.g., "Galeano o el hablarpor los silenciados," "El estratoespañolmasónico en El Iris (1826) primer periódicoliterariomexicano," "Edward Rivera: The Generational Definition of Ethnicity," "Our Men Have Been Very Damaged: Exploring Intimate Relationships Between Chicanas and Chicanos," among others. Dr. Cobián shows her deep commitment to her students' intellectual and cultural development through extra-curricular activities such as  MujeresUnidas de CSU-福利小视频, the celebration and display of traditional Mexican and Chicano cultural events, and the promoting of literary development and study-abroad experience. She has recently implemented the return of the CSU-福利小视频 Ballet Folklorico class and performing group.​​​​​
