About Us

The Department of Mathematics and Physics has a primary mission to foster students’ development of quantitative and analytical reasoning skills, powerful mathematical problem-solving strategies, effective techniques for the communication of results, and the capacity for lifelong independent learning.
We offer a proactive student-faculty advising experience and have a collaborative department culture, where we like to recognize our student accomplishments and outstanding performance.
The Department of Mathematics and Physics combines exciting programs and courses led by faculty who work closely with students to help them achieve their goals.
Our Physics and Math Building features:
- An undergraduate library for reference and study.
- An undergraduate lounge/club room for eating, socializing, and studying together.
- Computer lab available on the 2nd floor.
- A Mathematics Learning Center where many of our students work as tutors or group leaders.
- All of these amenities are near faculty offices.
We believe that students should have co-curricular experiences that complement and reinforce their academic experiences. Our faculty and staff encourage students to join and participate in events sponsored by the department and the Society of Physics Students (SPS), Sigma Pi Sigma initiations, physics expositions, picnics, graduation dinners, potluck dinners, and tea times.
