- October 25, 2024: The SCITT at CSU 福利小视频 has been awarded an $11.7M grant from the to conduct safety assessment, testing, and workforce development for hydrogen and natural gas-powered rail vehicles. Green hydrogen and renewable natural gas-powered rail vehicles offer promising technologies for decreasing greenhouse emissions. This project will help to facilitate safe implementation of environmentally friendly alternative fuel technologies by the US rail industry. The SCITT Director, will lead the project. SCITT will be assisted by a strong team of academic and industry partners including the , , and .
- October 24, 2024: On October 24, 2024, the Southern Colorado Transportation Conference (SCTC 2024) was held at , organized by the SCITT. It attracted over 113 professionals from academia, government, and industry from 9 States. This is the first annual SCTC and will continue to take place annually.
- The SCITT is a part of a team called the Climate Change and Extreme Events Training and Research (CCEETR) program led by San José State University’s Mineta Transportation Institute (MTI). It is a $4.6 Million grant from the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) that establishes the new consortium to perform climate change research that identifies risk mitigation strategies and preventative measures to improve the U.S. rail network’s resiliency.
- The SCITT is a part of $17 million grant from the Federal Railroad Administration’s (FRA) . Designed to address the stability and growth of the railroad workforce, led by University of South Florida. This is a four-year long grant starting from late 2023.
- The SCITT is a part of $8.98 million grant from the US DOT's Charging and Fueling Infrastructure Program titling Hydrogen Refueling Infrastructure on the I–25 Corridor, led by Colorado State University. This is a seven-year long grant starting from 2023.
- The SCITT has been awarded a $415,000 from the Colorado State Patrol to study the seatbelt enforcement effectiveness starting from mid 2023.
- The SCITT is a part of $230,000 grant from the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) to study the wildlife collision starting from 2022.
